It all started with blue enamel. 1985 the three Canadian siblings Don, Ian and Kathy Scott brought in some Mexican enamelware onto the American market. But the trade for exclusive enamelware didn’t reach far enough. They wanted to create something of their own. Under the name, GSI Outdoors, founded in San Diego, became a company known for its quality outdoor tableware. They began to create their own design, moulded and developed its first own products, including pot sets, cutlery for campfires and camping. The concept behind it was clear: they wanted to create quality products that have been lacking in the market.
Impressive products for the outdoor kitchen
GSI Outdoors – gear solutions & innovation – is today still a small family. Don, Ian and Kathy still mostly source their enamelware from Mexico. Over the last 30 years, there have been some additions – more employees and a wide range of products related to cooking, eating and drinking including GSI cookware, cooking and eating utensils, cutlery, drink containers, water bottles and storage containers.
The focus is on quality and innovation. GSI pots and pans have non-stick Teflon coatings- the only outdoor manufacturer to date that does so. The brand is also known for its clever coffee solutions when you’re on the go. With the Commuter Java Press, for example, GSI has created an innovative thermal function for outdoor coffee. In 2016, GSI brought out its first boiler onto the market!
